William MACHLEDT 46, passed away at his home in West Lebanon about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday Aug 22, 1962 following an illness of 4 months. He was born in Waveland Feb 20, 1916, son of Harry and Hazel Hendrix Machledt, former residents of Montezuma. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Reffett of Covington RR. He had been a patient at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette since July 4, until Tuesday when he was taken to his home. He graduated from Waveland HS, also Wabash College. He assisted his father in the undertaking business and following his father's death in 1948 he continued in the business at Waveland until six years ago when he sold part interest to Larry Servies who has continued in charge of the Waveland Mortuary and Furniture Store. He, his wife and son moved to West Lebanon six years ago, where he owned the Funeral Home also the owner of the funeral and furniture store at Williamsport. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at West Lebanon, the Federated Church, Order of Eastern Star at Waveland and a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. Survivors are the wife, one son, Freddy; the mother, one brother, Dr. John H. Machledt. The body will be at Machledt Funeral Home, West Lebanon Thursday evening and then at Williamsport Funeral Home Friday evening where friends may call. Services will be at Williamsport at 2:00 Saturday with burial in Montezuma Cemetery. - transcribed by kbz
